7th Grade World Geography:

Focus: Unit 2 Test today

Class work: Test

Homework: No homework tonight.




Unit 3, Ancient Egypt begins tomorrow. We will spend approximately two weeks in Ancient Egypt. The British Museum hosts an interactive website on ancient Egypt http://www.ancientegypt.co.uk/menu.html this is a quality source for information, illustrations, and interactive activities. Students will get an opportunity to view this site during class but may also want to view it from home too!




The Language Arts students will also be reading "The Egypt Game" a novel set in Ancient Egypt. This cross curricular unit will support and enhance student learning and understanding of the subject matter.
The teachers are all very excited about presenting this unit for our students. Ancient Egypt is usually one of our students' favorite topics!
Look out for some fun and challenging activities!




6th Grade World Geography

Focus: Regions of the United States.

Class work: worksheets on climate and vegetation zones

Homework: No written homework but students need to know the vocabulary for this section including review of material covered in class.

7th Grade World History

Focus: Unit Review--Unit 2 test tomorrow, Tuesday 30th!! Unit 2 covers chapters 3 and 4 in your textbook.

Class work: Vocabulary review, Exit Card Question and Answer. Group work: making up students' own questions. Remember you must know the answer yourself. Some groups got to challenge others with their questions!

Practice quizzes on computer; flip cards

Homework:Study for the test tomorrow---use your puzzle sheet, and work sheets to help you. Remember you can take home your composition book to study for the test.

Follow the directions, choose your text book and you can access the lesson review activities online. www.kidsgeo.com is another wesite you can access for geography practice----refresh your memory with some geography games.

6th Grade World Geography

Focus: Regions of the United States

Class work: Vocabulary: climate, weather, precipitation, students wrote the definitions in their own words in their composition book.

Reading pages 75-79 in the text and completed corresponding work book pages. Students are learning about the different climate and vegetation zones of the U.S.

Home Work: no written homework, students need to review the material covered in class.

World Geography, 6th grade

Focus: Pop Quiz

Class work: Students had to identify and label all the continents, and the countries of Canada, United States, and Mexico. For bonus points they could label the oceans--gaining one bonus point for each correct answer.

Homework. No written homework, but students should make sure they know What is a continent? What is a country? What is a city? What are the countries in North America?

Reminder note to parents and students: Many 6th grade students are turning in homework and even classwork without a name on it!!! If there is no name on the paper I can't enter the grade in pinnacle! Students, remember to put your name on all your work, parents remind your students to put their name on all their work!!!

7th Grade World History:

Focus: Mesopotamia/Early Empires

Class work: Centers (1)---Build a ziggarut out of modeling clay.
(2)---Mesopotamia cunneiform games on British Museum website.
(3)---Color a picture of a Mesopotamian deity or famous building.
(4)---Reading Center, review vocabulary, students' choice of reading from the classroom Social Studies library.

Home Work: Review for Unit test on Tuesday, September 30th!!!!!!!!

During class students got to engage in activities to extend their learning about the ancient empires of the Fertile Crescent, its writing, culture, history, and archaeology. Each student took an index card with him/her to document each activity in which they participated. This card was their "exit slip" to get out of class at the end of the day.

Home Work: Complete work sheets if you didn't get them finished during class. Keep the WS in your binder to study for the UNIT TEST ON TUESDAY!

6th Grade World Geography:

Focus: What is a Continent/country/state/city?

Classwork: the class worked in groups to research all the countries and their capital cities in each of the continents. They posted large charts containing all the information on the classroom walls.

Homework: Continent/country circle chart, due Friday. Students start labeling the chart with their own neighborhood, city, country and continent.
