Focus: Ancient Rome -- chapter 13

Classwork: PowerPoint, pictures of Rome and the excavated city of Pompeii.
Working with a partner answer questions 7 through 12 on page 460 of your text. Use all the resources in chapter 13 to help you answer.

7th Grade World History 1/14/09

Focus: Classical Greece, Chapter 12

Classwork: Read text pages 393-417.

Write vocabulary words and definitions in your journal. Remember journals should be taken home with you each day. You can carry them in your drawstring book bag.

Vocabulary: Pericles, direct democracy, Acropolis, Parthenon, Alexander the Great, Hellenistic, catapult

Complete vocabulary work sheets. When completed put them in your binder to help you study for the quiz on Friday.

7th grade World History 1/12/09

Focus: Ancient Greece

Class Work: (1) Read your text pages 371-375, describing the forms of government found in ancient Greece. In your journal write the vocabulary words and definitions found on page 371.
vocabulary:
aristocracy, oligarchy, democracy, polis, tyrant, citizen.

(2) Read pages 379-383 describing the lives of the citizens of Athens and sparta. In your journal draw a Venn diagram to compare and contrast Spartan society with the society of Athens.

Students need to bring home their history journals each night to review material covered in class.

Homework: Review material covered in class.

6th Grade World Geography 1/12/09

Focus: Chapter 8, Guatamala
